So here's the short of it,
Happy Birthday Emily!!
And here's the long.
Today is Mom's birthday!
How wonderful it is to have her here just down the road and around the corner from us.
She's seen lots of changes in her lifetime - from a childhood in mostly rural areas of Kentucky, helping on the farm, learning to can foods, and make her own clothes -- to an independent woman- driving back and forth to Lexington for graduate classes, becoming a respected educator, to traveling with her husband across Europe -- a woman who learned to ride a horse as a young girl, and watched the first man land on the moon from a television in her home.
She is so amazing - she still has a garden and cans beans and tomatoes. She's very active at church - not only attending, but serving as an elder, working with the Christian Education Ministry, and staying active in the senior group, as well as the women's group.
She's a great role model for me. I hope as I approach that age Mom is, that I have her energy and drive.
Happy Birthday Mom!! Love you SO MUCH...
