At W. 40th street all day long! We had a good day with the new teachers. Lunch was potluck and there was lots of good stuff to eat. This is our last New Teacher Consortium for the year. So we are ready to think about what needs to be done differently next year.

Liga came over to do a load of laundry this evening and we watched American Idol. Around here lots of folks are talking about that Lauren Alaina. Her mother was/is a waitress at a little bar in East Ridge called Magoo's.  It seems that Lauren has been performing Karaoke there since she was 8 years old. They are having watch parties there every night that Idol comes on, I hear. I know that must be so much excitement for them as they've watched her grow up right in front of them. She made it through tonight to the next round, so we'll be hearing all the buzz around here about her for another week! One of our secretaries actually knows her because her son is in the same grade/same school. She's a source of great stories and I get to see a tip of the community's excitement about her success. There's also a news story on every time there's a program. It's great.
