So here's the short of it,
It's Valentine's Day!
And here's the long.
My physical therapy appointment at 7:30 started my day out really early! I got a good work out today, and have a list of good exercises to strengthen my right ankle, and some pointers to work on my gait.
Somehow all my appointments got erased from my calendar for the day - so I spent the day getting coached about where I was supposed to be next. Thank goodness, I was able to do everything I had obligated myself to do (well, at least all that I know of as of now) Of course that blank slate I had looked at last night and then thought about using to get some catch up done didn't materialize.
I didn't get home til pretty late - my lovely sweet Sophie met me at the back gate and was so excited to see me; Lola was all sweet and purry; and there was a wonderful bouquet of roses from my sweet valentine just waiting for me. Alan and I went to dinner and then home. I'm tired - I slept pretty well last night - better than usual, and I'm hoping that tonight will be restful as well.
Happy Valentines Day!

So here's the short of it,
Sweet Kitty Lola...
And here's the long
So tomorrow is a very early day for me. My physical therapy starts at 7:30. I'm thinking YIKES! Why did I do that to myself... Of course, it's because I want the same therapist every time and by the time we looked at my schedule and her schedule that was the only choice for this week. Dang.....
Yesterday at the pet store I bought a pheromone collar for Lola. I've used a spray for a couple of years, but when I went to PetCo yesterday, they didn't have the spray. They did have a collar though. I thought, how smart is that, instead of just having a spot or two where she can feel very calm and safe, I can collar her and she'll be able to be calmer all the time. She sure didn't like the collar when I put it on her, but she's been OK with it today, and I do think it's made her more at ease.
She sure is a sweet kitty and Sophie really wants to be her friend, but Sophie is so big and scary that Lola doesn't really like it. I hope that the collar will help her tolerate Sophie a little more!
Tomorrow will be here early! I'm headed to bed pretty soon.

So here's the short of it,
And here's the long
Emily, Lynn, and Liga spent a good part of the day together today.
We went to the indoor flea market and Liga came away with a bunch of fleas - she found exactly what she went for. I saw lots of neat stuff and bought some tennis balls for Sophie, which ended up at Mom's, and Mom found a couple of things she wanted and I'm planning to go back sometime! I found a couple of vendors that sell jewelry that looks like it comes from estate sales - the kind of stuff I like, so I'll go back sometime.
We spent a little time with Mommy Anne on our way over to do the rest of our errands, and it was really nice for the two Moms to get to visit a little. She was in the bed when we got there, but we were able to get her up and out to the day room a little before lunch was going to be served. Arvin saw her later in the evening and she was up and at the dinner table!
We went to lunch together and then to the pet store and on to do a bit of shopping at our new Earth Fare grocery store. All in all it was a great girls day out. I feel really lucky to be able to have a day together with them.

So here's the short of it,
Alan is doing fine.
And here's the long
Alan had an Epidural today. I took the morning off so that I could be with him and ended up taking the whole day off. His appointment was at 10:00, but they told us that if we got there early he might get finished earlier. So we got there at 9:00. It didn't happen. He didn't get called back until 11:00 and didn't get taken back to the surgical room until after noon. I did one of those pretty modern things, and e-mailed work from my phone to let them know that I wouldn't be able to make it into work after all. Alan's post surgical instructions include, no painting, no treadmill, no plumbing, nothing that would cause him to look up. He does actually remember some of that conversation. They went a bit lighter on his anesthesia this time because he had such a hard time getting it all out of his system the last time. He's fine this evening, although he was complaining about itching all over and he's been napping off and on all afternoon and evening.
I'm starting to get a bit of a cough tonight. I'm not sure what that's all about, but I'm going to drag out the good old Chestal, a homeopathic cough remedy that a former student recommended. I got it the last time I had a cough, and it helped more than any over the counter brand I've ever tried.
I sure hope that it gets this cough under control before work on Monday!

So here's the short of it,
We didn't get a snow day; we worked on a 2 hour delay.
And here's the long
I thought for sure that we'd get a snow day today, but there wasn't enough now and it didn't stick on the roads here in the valley. Apparently it was pretty bad on Signal Mountain, because the three mountain schools didn't have to go. I suppose they'll have to figure out how to make that up.

It was awfully pretty to look out the front door this morning and see the dusting of snow.
And then I loved seeing my solar cat with a bit of snow clinging to her as I left this morning.
It was all gone by the time I got home this afternoon and temperatures are supposed to be in the high 50's this weekend. It will sure be nice to be out in that.

So here's the short of it,
Well, the snow has started here...
And here's the long
Hamilton County is on a two hour delay for tomorrow - well at least so far. The weather forecasters are saying this won't be a really bad storm. As a matter of fact it should be all melted by mid afternoon they are saying. But right now there's a lovely snow covering, I'd say 1/2 an inch or more, on the grass, the trees, and the tops of the cars. But right now there's no snow on the streets and sidewalks.
Here's the forecast from WDEF Channel 12 Storm Team
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for the entire area for this evening into early Thursday morning. Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for NE Alabama. I don’t expect “more” snow accumulations in Alabama.
Here is what to expect.
How much snow? As noted below, a general dusting to 1” for most valley locations. Up to 2” in a few isolated spots and mountains around the City. 2-3” likely along the Plateau and the mountains of East TN/NC.

Most of the snow will melt by Thursday Afternoon with sunshine returning and highs near 40. Oh, and a high near 60 by Sunday!!

Here is what to expect.
- Clouds thicken this afternoon, still warming into the low 40s.
- Look for snow along the Plateau by 4-6pm, possibly mixed with a few raindrops.
- Snow should continue to spread across the area from west to east with snow in the Chattanooga/Cleveland area around 7-8pm.
- The “Heaviest” snow will fall late this evening, say 9-11pm. During this time, slushy roads will become a problem, especially secondary roads.
- Snow ends around midnight, temps fall into the 20s.
- I expect slick roads in the morning, especially bridges and overpasses and again less traveled roads.
- I also expect school delays and closings.
- We will become Partly Cloudy Thursday, highs in the mid to upper 30s.

Even though we have a 2 hour delay, I'll be at work by 9:00 in the morning or earlier. I have a meeting that will be starting at 10:00 and I've got to get set up and ready for that.

So here's the short of it,
Another long day of checking in portfolios...
And here's the long.
In spite of the drudgery of the task at hand, I enjoyed the opportunity to spend the day with some of my colleagues that I don't usually get a chance to be with; but for sure, I'm glad that checking in portfolios is over. I'll be glad tomorrow to just be back into a more normal routine.
Our weather forecasters are calling for snow to begin tomorrow afternoon or evening. It's supposed to move through pretty quickly and by Thursday afternoon turn into rain and melt away. We are out of snow days, so any days that we miss after this, we'll have to make up somewhere, and that will shorten breaks or my little bit of time off in the summer. Yuck! But in spite of all that, I'm thinking that a snow day on Thursday would be pretty great. I think I would sleep in!
