So here's the short of it, 
Happy Equinox this Autumn!

And here's the long.

So today is the Autumn Equinox. The sun is shining directly on the equator.  The length of the day and night are the same.

In the northern hemisphere for ages and ages there have been festivals celebrating the harvest!  And people like me who love the fall may breathe a special sigh of relief that the hot summer days are really and truly almost done.

The moderns who look back on ancient traditions talk about this being a time to seek balance and harmony - a time for us to look at what our excesses are - what our deficiencies are... And examine what we need to do to bring it all into harmony.

It's a whole lot like the Jewish High Holidays - focusing on what things to do differently in the year to come.  How to turn our thoughts and behaviors for the better.
